Aurora Council Member Bob Roth was re-elected to the Colorado Municipal League Executive Board by…
When I first came to Aurora in October of 1999, I made the decision that I was going to be an active participant in my new city, not just watch things happen around me. After settling into my new environment for a bit, I went to the city website to see what volunteer opportunities there were. The first Citizen Board I applied for and was appointed to was VPAB – Visitor’s Promotion Advisory Board (the precursor to what is now Visit Aurora). Subsequent to that, I was appointed to the CWAC – Citizen’s Water Advisory Board and CABC – Citizen’s Advisory Budget Committee. My total time of service on these boards was over 10 years.
As I grew more comfortable with the workings of our city, and better understood the complexities, I had key leaders within the city approach me about the possibility of stepping into a different leadership role and run for council. In 2009, I decided to make that move and ran for the first time, unsuccessfully, however, the lessons learned were invaluable.
I was appointed to fill a vacancy on council in 2010, then ran to keep my seat in 2011 and 2015.
I love what I do for the people of Ward V, and the greater Aurora area. I listen, I interact and I make positive changes. I would appreciate your support to continue to represent Ward V.
